I, as a proud member of the Berkeley Services team, pledge to transform my daily professional habits to protect our planet. I understand that small, consistent actions in the buildings we manage lead to significant environmental impact.
My SMART Sustainability Pledge
- Paper Conservation: I will champion a ‘Digital-First’ policy by using cloud-based sharing and digital signatures, printing only when absolutely critical and always utilizing double-sided, grayscale settings.
- Clean Desk Policy: I will maintain a paper-free workspace by ensuring that no physical files or documents remain on my desk. All active tasks will be managed digitally, and any legacy documents will be digitized and securely archived or recycled, fostering a clutter-free, eco-conscious environment.
- Energy Efficiency: I will ensure all non-essential lighting, monitors, and office equipment are fully powered off—not just left in standby—at the end of each day to minimize our energy demand.
- Water Stewardship: I will be a vigilant steward of water within our office facilities, reporting any leaks or inefficient plumbing fixtures to the maintenance team immediately to prevent wastage.
- Smart Commuting & Fuel Usage: I will actively seek to reduce my commuting carbon footprint by opting for carpooling, public transport (such as the Metro), or eco-friendly driving habits. I will practice smooth acceleration and consistent speeds to optimize fuel efficiency and minimize unnecessary idling.
- Integrated Responsibility: I recognize that my daily office habits influence our company’s overall environmental footprint, and I will actively champion our sustainability goals as a leader in Integrated Facility Management.
